One thing I would like to add (and I''m just spending more of your money) go for the Warco ''cause it is cheaper than the Chester also the Warco has a slightly bigger motor against 750w. Now the little bit of money you have saved put it towards a power feed (X) direction.

I''ll have this model and a higher spec. one in about a month. I won''t go into details, as this is not a forum for advertising, but just to say that I have plenty of happy customers.

I had looked very hard at the 626/VMC type machine which are very good value but in the end the limited table travel and height below the spindle put me off. I also looked at the 836/WM20 type mill and would have bought one if I could have justified that amount of money on a hobby machine. I spent time looking at these type of machines

Surface grinding might come close to your requirements, even then you are talking about accuracy not normally attainable with "hobby" kit, even if it''s at the top end of the market.
After looking at a few of the machines around (including all the Warco mills in their showroom) I went for the VMC. One main reason was height the VMC has the main drive motor hanging down rather than sticking up and my workshop has limited headroom.
